Real food before the show.
Jake's Meats is a short drive up State Route 281 from the Gorge. Tacos, birria and plates made to order, plus a carnicería and market for camp.
If you are headed to a show at the Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Washington, you drive right past us. Jake's Meats sits on State Route 281 in Quincy, about fifteen minutes north of the venue, and we have been feeding this valley long before the gates open and long after the last encore. Families, farm crews, road trippers and concert campers all pull into the same lot.
Here is the honest pitch: concession lines are long, the food is what it is, and you are hungry now. We cook real Mexican food to order, all day, every day. Street tacos with onion and cilantro, salsa on the side. Birria that simmers until the meat falls apart, with a cup of consomé to dip. Burritos big enough to split, quesabirria toasted on the griddle, carne asada plates with rice, beans and warm tortillas. Breakfast burritos for the morning after, when nobody in the tent wants to cook.
Eat in at our tables, or take it with you. Plates travel well, and a bag of tacos in the back seat beats anything you will find inside the venue. Call ahead and your order is bagged and waiting, so you are back on the road in minutes.
Grilling at camp? Stop at the carnicería.
Half the fun of a Gorge weekend is the grill next to the tent. Our carnicería cuts and marinates fresh every day: carne asada ready for the fire, adobada with our house chile blend, house chorizo, carnitas by the pound, whole chickens and custom cuts if you call ahead. Buy by the pound for your group, grab tortillas and salsas on the way out, and you have dinner for the whole campsite for less hassle than a restaurant stop.
And everything you forgot at home.
The mini market up front covers the rest. Ice, cold drinks, Mexican Cokes, Jarritos, Topo Chico, waters, aguas frescas, chips, chicharrones, dulces, coffee for the drive, sunscreen-weather snacks, pantry basics and household essentials. It is a real neighborhood market, so the shelves are stocked for people who actually live here, which means you will find what you need instead of a sad rack of gas station jerky.
Bringing a crew?
Groups are our favorite. Call us a day or two ahead with your headcount and pickup time and we will build a menu that fits your crowd and your event: taco trays, birria by the pan, rice, beans, tortillas and salsas, all boxed for pickup. Caravans of friends, bus groups, crew feeds and family reunions all work the same way, and everything is ready the moment you arrive.
Come hungry, bring the whole group, and tell us how the show was on the way back through. Nos vemos pronto.
